Questions on Virtue of Shab-e-Baraat
Articles - Sunnah

•     Which of the narrated virtues can we confidently narrate as true virtues of this night?
•     Which are the commonly narrated virtues are in fact definite fabrications?
•     The famous Hadith of Aishah radiyallahu anha raises certain queries. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was commanded بلغ ما أنزل إليك . Why then was this matter, if so virtuous and important, only conveyed to us in a manner which seems “accidental”? Had Ummul Mumineen not woken, had she not had certain thoughts, had she not searched for Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, had he not then told her, would we have known? Why did Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam not convey this knowledge of his own accord as with the rest of Dien?

I place my query at the feet of Mufti Sahib, having experienced in the past the benefits of your prompt replies with clear proofs.

Odd Strangers to Islam: Comedy Shows
Articles - Current Affairs

Image

Soon a group of people comprising an odd trio of two comedians and one ‘shaikh’ is due to tour South Africa, hosting live comedy shows in the name of Islam. Ostensibly the idea of such shows is to promote Islam and educate Muslims. Sadly though, the actors and organisers of these shows fail to realize that such shows represent a mockery of Islam. Instead of educating people, these shows will earn the displeasure of Allah and cast people into further ignorance and confusion. All of this is totally strange to Islam and absolutely at odds with the Spirit of Ieman.

THE LIFE OF RASOOLULLAH (SALLALLAHU ALAYHI WASALLAM) IN HIS GRAVE

The discussion around the concept of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) being alive in his grave also includes the equally important questions of making dua to the Messenger of Allah directly and making him a medium or intermediary in dua. This article comprises  these three issues.

The question of Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam being alive or dead in his qabr is, per se, not a matter that affects one’s iemaan or acts of worship, nor is it a belief for which Muslims will be questioned about in the hereafter. If a Muslim goes through his entire life not knowing the status of such an issue, he would have neither lost nor gained anything. In like manner, this discussion or debate is not so serious that it should result in animosity or acrimonious exchange, and both sides should exercise caution and moderation when discussing a matter of this nature. Should we fail to do this, it is highly possible that through injudicious statements and malicious argumentation, the issue will become detrimental to our Iemaan and Beliefs, whereas it was never a bone of such contention.

While we certainly believe the matter is not as serious as some make it appear, we have to acknowledge that the additional factor of supplicating to Allah’s Messenger that has entered the equation has now made it important to highlight certain facts in the light of Quran and Sunnah. It is this factor that has raised an outcry from certain quarters; hence the need to touch on this subject as well.

Responding to Vilification of Islam
Articles - Current Affairs

One of the more serious challenges Muslims face today is the continued and unabated abuse, insults, and vilification hurled at the Shariah of Our Beloved Master, Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). This article advises on the nature of such abuse and how Muslims should respond

It is undoubtedly a jihad of our times to meet this challenge and repel the verbal attacks on Islam. This is Jihad in an intellectual form, which Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) described in his blessed words: “he who wages jihad against them (the enemy) with the tongue is a true believer”, narrated by Imam Ahmad RA and others.

As a prelude to this discussion, we present the following Verse of the Holy Quran:
“You shall be tested in your wealth and your lives. And (part of this test is that) you shall hear a lot of abuse from those who have been handed the Book before you (i.e. Jews and Christians), as well as from the Mushrikeen (Idolaters). If you adopt sabr and taqwa, then this (attitude) ranks among the great tasks (of Deen) – Sura 3, verse 186
